Mac App Store Gnuplot
About the App
The best way to use gnuplot on MacOS is to set it to work with aquaterm as opposed to X11. Here is what I did to do so on both Yosemite and El Capitan MacOS: First remove all pre installation of gnuplot and aquaterm, if any: Brew uninstall gnuplot; Manually delete Aquaterm if you installed it via dmg file previously from your application. Then start XQuartz, make a new xterm and run a script like this in the xterm window running gnuplot: set terminal x11 set title 'Some Math Functions' set xrange -10:10 set yrange -2:2 set zeroaxis plot (x/4).2, sin(x), 1/x Skip the 'set terminal' line if you are using qt as it gets set for you when gnuplot starts. Mac OS X has a desktop app store, unlike Windows. Get a new Mac and you may be excited to open the Mac App Store and install all your favorite software — but you won’t find all your favorite apps in the store. The Mac App Store isn’t like the App Store on Apple’s iPhones and iPads. AquaTerm is a Mac OS X grahics renderer. It allows command line applications written in ObjC, C, FORTRAN, Lisp, Perl or Python to display vector graphics, text and images using a simple API. Adapters for gnuplot, PGPLOT, and PLplot exists as well. Gnuplot is a portable command-line driven interactive datafile (text or binary) and function plotting utility for UNIX, IBM OS/2, MS Windows, DOS, Apple Mac, VMS, Atari and many other platforms. The software is copyrighted but freely distributed (i.e., you don't have to pay for it).
